Morris Hartley is an artist based in Tsawwassen, British Columbia. Morris works primarily in traditional oil paints, and his paintings reflect the beauty and unique nature of the landscapes of Western Canada.
The medium of paint has formed much of Morris’ life. At a young age, Morris would take his materials to the banks of the Fraser River and paint the currents and boulders at his feet. As life continued, he shifted into a larger scale, and had a long and successful career building his own business as a professional house painter and decorator. Morris picked up the brush and canvas again in recent years, turning his hand back to portraying the sea and sky around where he lives.
His paintings capture the textures and colours of a landscape that is continually shaped by the forces of time, weather, and tides.
